Jinja High Court will hear 20 petitions

Court to hear parliamentary petitions iThe principal judge, Yorokamu Bamwine has released a cause list for all the 118 parliamentary election petitions filed in the various high courts across the country.

In the cause list, high courts in Kampala will handle 15 petitions. Among those to be heard are those filed by Aisha Kabanda, Sitenda Sebalu and the one against Peter Ssematimba.

Soroti High Court will hear eight while Mbale High Court circuit will handle 16 petitions including one filed by Geoffrey Ekanya, energy minister Irene Muloni and the Samia Bugwe North Member of Parliament John Mulimba.

Jinja High Court will hear 20 petitions, amongst which is one filed against the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

Gulu will hear five, Masaka 12, Masindi five including one filed by former information minister Kabakumba Matsiko, Arua will hear 4, Kabale 3, Fort Portal 9, Mubende 4 and Lira 10.

The hearing of the petitions starts in May and is expected to end in June.
