Spurs ready to pounce on Leicester nerves says Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham are ready to take advantage of any slips from leaders Leicester after being encouraged by his title chasing side's recent form.

Pochettino's team produced a sublime display to win 4-0 at Stoke last Monday following Leicester's draw with West Ham and are just five points off first place with four games remaining.

Once again the north Londoners have to wait all weekend to play, this time at home to West Bromwich Albion on Monday, after Leicesters have hosted Swansea on Sunday.

Spurs are unbeaten in six league matches and their belief has been helped by the inclusion of four players - Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Dele Alli and Harry Kane - in the PFA Team of the Year, with the latter two contenders for Young Player of the Year.

Kane is also nominated for overall Player of the Year after a season that has yielded 27 goals in all competitions for his club, including two at Stoke last week.

"It was a fantastic performance last week and result for us and we are very happy with the way we have played in the last few games," Pochettino said.

"We have to keep working hard and we are still fighting for the title.

"The motivation is very good on the training ground and we have built up the week fantastically. We now have to patient and wait until Monday. I'm focusing on trying to win the title.

"The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world. It is true, Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and he proved that he is not only one season, he now has a second season.

"We have no doubt in our team he will achieve everything due to his passion and he's hungry. He showed on Monday against Stoke his fantastic skill.

"I think my players deserve full credit for the season, we are very happy and we are very proud. Now we hope Harry and Dele achieve the (PFA player of the season) trophies.

"Danny for him is fantastic, he's made a fantastic season. So far he showed a fantastic performance, I'm happy for him, Toby, Dele and Harry."

- Peak form -Certainly Tottenham have hit peak form at just the right time as they chase a first top-flight title since 1961.

West Brom make a second trip to north London in five days as they attempt to destroy the impression that their season is petering out.

They were beaten 2-0 at Arsenal on Thursday and, with 41 points on the board and safety already effectively secure, Tony Pulis' side appear to be marking time until the close-season, although the head coach is refusing to accept that theory.

And the Welshman says his side should be relishing the chance to take on a club in the title mix.

"I think they're great games," he said. "I said to the players when we played Man City, there's such a small percentage of people that get the opportunity to do this in their lives, to go to these football grounds and play against great players.

"You relish it, you shouldn't be nervous or worried about it. We'll be given no chance to get anything at Tottenham like we were given no chance to get anything at Man City so the pressure's not on us.

"We should really relish it, we've got the points to keep us in the Premier League. We should really look forward to these games."
