Uganda Martyrs' Hospital Rubaga Commissions sh2.4bn Maternity Ward

The sh2.4bn facility was constructed with financial aid from Misereor, a German Development Agency. It was named after the late Dr. Rita Moser, who worked at the hospital for over 40 years.
Uganda Martyrs' Hospital Rubaga's newly constructed maternity ward was on Friday commissioned by the head of Development Cooperation at the Germany Embassy, Udo Weber and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
The sh2.4bn facility was constructed with financial aid from Misereor, a German Development Agency. It was named after the late Dr. Rita Moser, who worked at the hospital for over 40 years.

Speaking during the function, Udo Weber asked government and the private health service providers to put in place effective health care systems for the better service of the people.
Weber also called for public private partnerships in the health sector as one strategy to make effective health services accessible to all.
Weber further called on the National Medical Stores to ensure efficiency and transparency in the distribution of health logistics. He also called on government and faith-based health institutions to put in place comprehensive programmes for more advanced training of their staff.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, explained that the Church's involvement in the health sector was intended to further the holistic ministry of Jesus Christ, who fed the hungry, healed the sick and also raised people from the dead, further to preaching the gospel.
The Executive Director of the Hospital, Dr. Andrew Ssekitooleko said that the hospital's management had the plan to enhance strategic partnerships, visionary leadership, professional management, ICT systems and a patient-centered approach to service.
The Head of the Hospital's Board of Governors, Dr. Joseph Mary Seremba, promised to improve on the welfare of the staff members. He also pledged to ensure continuous infrastructure improvement at the hospital.
The hospital's annual health assembly and exhibition was also graced by the Commissioner of Clinical Services at the ministry of health, Dr. Jacinto Amandwa, who commended the Catholic Church for its dynamic involvement in the health sector, which had improved the provision of health services in the country.
