FDC's victory march flops

Police outlawed the event saying it was illegal

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Col. Kizza Besigye has been blocked from leaving his home in Kasaganti, the party has said.

The development comes a day after FDC said it was organizing a victory march today to counter the ruling party's celebration at Kololo ceremonial grounds.

Speaking to journalists at Katonga Road, MP elect for Kawempe South Mubarak Munyangwa, who represented the party, yesterday said it is Besigye who won the presidential election and therefore deserving a victory party.

The event was slated to take place at Nakivubo Primary School in Kampala. However, Police outlawed the event saying it was illegal. Deputy Police spokesperson Polly Namaye told New Vision that FDC party contravened the Public Order management law.

Museveni emerged winner with 60.75% of the votes, while his main rival Besigye received 35.37%.
