Government gives FUFA sh300m for Cranes preps

The money will be used to refund part of the money the federation has borrowed to facilitate the national team

Government has handed sh300m to FUFA for Uganda Cranes' AFCON qualifier double header with Burkina Faso on Saturday and Tuesday next week.

FUFA finance director Decolas Kiza confirmed the offer saying the money will be used to refund part of the money the federation has borrowed to facilitate the national team trip to Ouagadougou and the return leg in Kampala.

The Uganda Cranes contingent left for Burkina Faso on Wednesday night and is expected to play on Saturday and return to Kampala on Monday just in time for the return leg on Tuesday night.

Although the offer leaves a huge financial deficit on the sh1.8b budget for the two matches, Kiza said that it has relieved FUFA of some burden.

Uganda is leading Group D of the qualifiers with six points and wins against Burkina Faso will see them edge closer to ending decades of absence at the continental showpiece.
