Coach Molly Byekwaso said the team will remain focused despite the loss

In what was a battle of the forces, Maroons FC managed to secure their second win of the season Friday, with a 1-0 win over Simba FC at Luzira grounds.

Salim Kiyaga was the hero for Maroons when he slotted home in the 71st minute to give his side all three points.

An elated Kiyaga said the win was as a result of commitment from the team.

"I'm happy I got the goal. We will continue working hard in the coming games to bag all three points and keep our hopes of remaining in the league alive," he said.

Simba were unlucky not to pick a point in the game when skipper Godfrey Wakaza missed a penalty in the 16th minute.

But coach Molly Byekwaso said the team will remain focused despite the loss.

"I will keep encouraging the team. They do not have to play under pressure we have more games to ensure we stay in the league," he said.

Both teams still remain at the foot of the table with Simba FC in the 15th position while Maroons are bottom in 16th.

Simba will have a two weeks break and more time to prepare before they take on Lweza FC while Maroons will on Tuesday face defending champions Vipers.
