Maama Baker Cup starts March 18

Districts will play qualifiers and send three representative clubs for the finals in Kampala.

The Maama Baker Cup has attracted teams from Entebbe, Jinja and Iganga for qualifiers of the competitions meant to remember the former ardent football fan.

They join the teams from Kawempe, Kampala Central, Rubaga, Makindye and Nakawa divisions for the annual Cup competition which will feature only women teams in the U-14 and Open categories.

FUFA Women football officer Hadijjah Namuyanja said that the districts will play qualifiers and send three representative clubs for the finals in Kampala.

"The district qualifiers will be played on March 18. The top three teams will qualify to play at the 2016 Mama Beker Cup. The plan to include school girls is to ensure continuity in women football," Namuyanja popularly referred to as ‘Lady Mourinho' said. Finals of the Cup are slated for Saturday, March 27, 2016.

Until last year only teams Kampala city divisions- Makindye, Kawempe, Nakawa, Lubaga and Central division took part in the competitions.
