Man 35 murders father over a piece of land

Police have detained the man and he is waiting to appear to court

Gomba: Police in Gomba district are holding a man for allegedly hacking his father to death for over a piece of land

John Kasozi, 35 years a veteran soldier and resident of Kakomo village in Mpenja sub county Gomba district is being held by police in Gomba for allegedly killing his Father Anthony Mutaawe 85 years a resident of the same village.

According to Rashidah Mugawe, the regional police CID for Katonga region which cover the three districts of Mpigi , Gomba and Butambala, the incident happened on Friday evening after Mutaawe's grand son had gone to collect food.

"When the grandson came back, he found his grandfather on the floor. The grandson rushed to the village chairperson Fred Kato who came with other residents to see what had happened to the old man.," Mugawe narrated.

According to the Kato, they found the body of Mutaawe in the pool of blood and it had five deep wounds on the head and others on the neck and they immediately contacted Kanoni police station.

Police took the body to Gombe hospital for a postmortem. When police also carried out investigations, they recovered some of the deceased's shirts and Kanzu with blood stains hidden inside the pit latrine at home.

Kato says Kasozi was taken as first suspect owing to the previous bad relationship he had with his late father. He added saying that at one time, the deceased reported his son to the LC  for his bad behaving.

According to locals, Kasozi always wanted to sell his father's piece of land but his father never permitted him to do so. Kasozi is currently detained at Kanoni police station waiting to appear before court.
