Would you like to volunteer to serve on the Board of a local dynamic Ugandan NGO?

  Protecting Families against HIV/AIDS (PREFA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization

(NGO) that was formed to contribute to Uganda's efforts in enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS

prevention, care, treatment, and support services to families with a historical focus on Elimination

of Mother-to-Child Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV. PREFA is looking for a competent firm to provide

internal audit in relation to the following Terms of Reference.

Terms of Reference

1. Review, documenting and monitoring the implementation of systems, policies and

procedures. Provide an independent appraisal of how the organization's financial, physical, and operational and information activities or resources are managed as per the set policies and procedures.

2. Assess the efficiency and effectiveness in the management and operations of donor grants;

3. Measure the soundness of systems, policies and procedures at PREFA in safeguarding organizational and donor resources;

4. Confirm compliance with the donor grant agreements and related policies and procedures, and the related laws of the country;

5. Identify any other risks that the organization and donor grants may be exposed to and measures in place to mitigate such risks;

6. Assess the effectiveness of IT general controls;

7. Assess the compliance of service level agreements; and

8. Make recommendations on management of the donor grants based on the above.

Qualification and Experience

• Registered with Institute of Internal Auditors of Uganda.

• 10 years of related work experience with NGOs

• Extensive knowledge of NGO rules and regulations e.g. OMB-Circulars.

• Proven success in managing risk and mitigating losses.

• Expert knowledge of regulatory compliance and reporting including GAAP professional audit

standards and best practices in Internal control systems.

• Have strong knowledge of audit procedures; audit related planning techniques, test & sampling methods.
