JEEMA's poor show in polls 'was planned'

Mar 09, 2016

The poor show was also blamed on internal party wrangles such as the failure for all party leaders and members to stand behind one candidate

The Justice Forum (JEEMA) has revealed why it put up one of the worst performances in the recent parliamentary elections.

JEEMA president Asuman Basalirwa said they fielded only 15 candidates on the party card across the country.

Basalirwa himself contested the Bukooli North Constituency seat but like all the party's candidates, he lost.

He said this was a party strategy to present young and inexperienced leaders most of whom were standing for the first time so that they gain experience for future contests.

"The beauty is that these are young people, they have laid the foundation so we are looking at five years. We shall be better organized for the next election" he said.
