Woman kills husband over failure to give her a child

Police in Rukungiri are holding a 28 year old woman identified as Oliva Tumwebaze over the murder of her husband Frank Byaruhanga, 52, of Kibaale Cell, Karangaro Ward in Rukungiri district.
Police said Tumwebaze was arrested by a group of women who rushed her to police to avoid her being lynched by a mob.
It's alleged that at about 9:30 pm on Friday, Byaruhanga a mason in Rukungiri town develop a quarrel with his wife and she picked a machete and cut his right arm in three places until he bled to death.
Tumwebaze then called her neighbours and told them that she had quarreled with her husband and hit him with a plate to which he collapsed instantly.
When residents gathered at the couple's home, they found the deep cuts on Byaruhanga's arm and claimed she used a machete to kill him. As they were organizing to lynch her, a group of women whisked her to the police station.
Shallon Komushana a resident said Tumwebaze had been accusing her husband of failing to give her a child.
Byaruhanga lost his first wife in 2010 and later married Tumwebaze four years ago. He had six children from his first marriage.
Tumwebaze reportedly complained on many occasions that her man claimed to be too tired whenever he returned home.
The LC I Chairperson Kibaale, Remegio Mugisha said he tried to mediate the conflicts several times but could not reach a solution.
