Celebrate responsibly, Kayihura urges poll winners

Kayihura encouraged all candidates planning to celebrate to ensure that their programmes are first discussed and cleared by the respective district police commanders
The Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura has called for peace and calm as Ugandans await to hear the out come of the national elections for both the Presidential and Parliamentary seats
In a statement issued Saturday morning, Kayihura cautioned all candidates to avoid conflicting programmes as they celebrate their respective victories in the interest of public order.
Furthermore, Kayihura encouraged all candidates planning to celebrate to ensure that their programmes are first discussed and cleared by the respective district police commanders.
"All regional and district police commanders have been informed to co-ordinate these programmes and ensure that law and public order are not compromised" the statement read.
Transfers and appoints
Also announced were fresh transfers and appointments of some gazetted officers.
ACP James Ruhweza Akiki has been appointed operations commander Kampala Metropolitan while SSP Francis Chemusto has been transferred to Elgon Region and appointed the Regional Police Commander.
SSP Kaggwa Andrew has been appointed Regional Police Commander South while SP Bangambaki Alfred has been transferred from Kampala Metropolitan North and appointed Regional Police Commander Malaba.
