The Norwegian Association of Disabled (NAD) is an independent human rights and advocacy organization of persons with disabilities based in Oslo, Norway. Established in 1931, NAD works with Disabled People's Organizations (DPOs) and Governments through existing local structures to facilitate sustainable change for persons with disabilities.

Since 2006, NAD, the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU) and the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) have been working on Economic Empowerment for persons with disabilities. The program is expanding and developing, with more poor persons with disabilities accessing informal and formal financial services.

NAD is looking for a full-time, well-qualified and committed Technical Assistant to work under the program's Technical Adviser. The engagement is initially 1 year with 6 months' probation; renewal is based on external funding and satisfactory performance. The Technical Assistant's duty station is Kampala, with regular travels to program areas in the countryside

Specific competences:

> Good communication skills, good English language skills (also writing)

> Computer literacy with proficiency in Internet and MS-Office packages

> Good knowledge of financial planning and reporting

> Good organizational skills and logistical planning / management

> Lobbying, advocacy, partnership building and networking skills

> Proven capability to do community mobilization; especially for rural-based development initiatives

> Proven ability to work with vulnerable groups, especially persons with disabilities

> Presentation and verbal reporting skills. Ability to address and appeal to a diverse audience

> Self-drive, ability to motivate, build capacity of partners and influencing them to deliver positive change

> Team work building, coaching, use of participatory learning techniques

> Project work experience, result-based monitoring and evaluation

> Creativity, innovativeness, analytical problem solving

> Ability to work independently, timely delivery on deadlines

Qualifications required:

Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, CBR, Community psychology, Education, Microfinance, Business / Economics and/or a related field from a recognized university/institution.

A Post Graduate qualification in Project Management or Microfinance plus experience in working with vulnerable persons is an added advantage.
