National University Cross Country

Kampala University (KU) athlete Wycliffe Chemtigen believes that the National University Cross Country victory has given him a good time test ahead of the 20th World University Cross Country scheduled for March 12 in Cassino, Italy.

This followed his winning of the National University Cross-country at Makere University in the Men's category in a time of 38:27.5.

The Saturday event took place at Makerere University Rugby grounds.

"I'm very happy that I came first in the event. I was also assured of this position though, after realizing that Joshua Cheptegei was not in the race.

"Also, I need to work hard ahead of the World University Cross-country games," said the athlete.

Meanwhile, Ndejje's Dorcus Ajok came in first position in the ladies category after she completed in 31:40.0.

"This win didn't come easy on my side because i had to balance my academics with training," she said.

A total of eleven universities with a guest team from the University of Education Winneba (Ghana) took part in the Saturday event.
