For some time, Ugandan socialists, especially those based in South Africa, have raised eyebrows on the society with the manner in which they spend gobs of money on parties and different orgies every time they fly in for holidays during festive seasons. And boy have they indulged themselves.

Pinned several times to explain why they can't spend that money on "relevant" projects like charities and all, other than splash wads of cash in bars and women, stuttering answers have been given. But, seems some have listened to the pleas.

Socialite Cameroon Gitawo (born Chris Mbibo) also based in South Africa and CEO of The Money Team Africa (TMT) has lived to his word and started off his philanthropy works on Saturday by sending scholastic materials that included 20 dozens of books, 100kgs of rice, bunches of Matooke and 12 boxes of soap to M-Lisada orphanage located in Nsambya, Kampala, near the main hospital.

Gitawo's offer is response to the campaign recently started by this orphanage home, "Walk For A Cause" calling upon the public to minimise on the transport fares they pay daily travelling to work by walking some distance. The little saved sent to the Orphanage home to support these kids in need.

Receiving the gifts, Derrick Tebazindwa an official at the orphanage, thanked the TMT group for being the first to support them, "We received children from police almost on a daily. They are abandoned and have nowhere to go. We give them home but they also need support and the number is growing. That is why I thank the TMT group for leading by example. We need more support from everyone," he said.

M-Lisada is home to over 200 resident and non-resident children and youth, aged three to 19 years.

Started by a former street child, Bosco Segawa, the orphanage has become of the most highly regarded Non-Governmental Organisations in Kampala.
