Nnabagereka mourns Nabeta's father

Nnabagereka’s visit lasted for close to four hours and had lunch together with the Nabeta family at their home

Nnabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda has visited the home of Nathan Igeme Nabeta at Masese in Walukuba division, Jinja district to mourn the late James Nathan Igeme Nabeta.

Nnabagereka who arrived at 2:00pm was welcomed by Ruth Nabeta who was accompanied by her siblings who included Nathan Igeme Nabeta, Monica Namugabo, Beatrice Nabeta and their mother Lovinsa Nabeta at their home on Monday.

The late Nabeta succumbed to low blood pressure on Wednesday as he was being rushed to Jinja Hospital from his Gokhale residence and was aged 84. He was buried at his ancestral home at Wanyama, Bugembe Town Council in Jinja district on Sunday.

 Nnabagereka's visit lasted for close to four hours and had lunch together with the Nabeta family at their home.

Ruth Nabeta told New Vision that she studied with Nnabagereka in S1 up to S4 at Wanyange Girls School.

"Nnabagereka used to visit our family and whenever she could come, she would find our father at home who used to welcome her. That is how she became a family friend," she said.

She added that the Nnabagereka is now like a sister in their family.

Nathan Igeme Nabeta, the Jinja district NRM chairperson said his father was a kind man, faithful and a loving father.

"Mzee Nabeta used to welcome anybody at home, he also advised many in various businesses and he is the one who taught me various business skills and how to engage in international trade," Igeme said.

He said "We looked at him as a pillar as a family and he lived a simple life." He added that he was an effective straightforward person.

Igeme said NRM's Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba, was chief mourner at the burial ceremony which was attended by hundreds on Sunday.
