FUFA Big League side Wandegeya FC have suffered defeat to first division outfit Kilokole FC at Kanyanya ground.

Wandegeya's previous game was a 2-1 victorious encounter with Industrial Area FC in the Uganda Cup before going into a break.

Now they are readying up for the second season of the league which kicks off next Thursday.

But they will have to brush up real quick if they are to prove a formidable force for their rivals - and results like Thursday's should be off the menu.

In that friendly, they fell behind to Kilokole 15 minutes into the game, thanks to a Joshua Wasswa finish.

Wasswa was on the end of a cross from the right and with the defence flat-footed, he looped over to put the Kawempe side in the lead.

A minute to halftime, Fred Sekatawa made it two for Kilokole after Wandegeya's custodian failed to handle the ball.

The visiting side enjoyed good ball possession and passing, giving the home team something to think about.

Wandegeya returned a much livelier side but their attacks were often extinguished by a solid backline.

They even missed a penalty when new signing Ibrahim Ssenkaaba hit the woodwork.

A consolation goal only came in the 75th minute when Marvin Mbago converted. And despite exerting more pressure on their opponents, an equalizer never came.

What they said

Wandegeya headcoach Ssemwanga Swaibu: "We have identified our weaknesses so we are to correct them before our next game. We need to work as a team to enter the playoffs bracket."

Kilokole coach-player Yunusu Kasozi: "It was a good show for the boys and hope we can qualify to the regional league next season. We are going to push on and on until we qualify. It's our target this season."
