Police shuffle: Ssenkumbi, Sekate back

Feb 03, 2016

Among them, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vincent Sekate, the former deputy Uganda Police Force spokesperson, returns as the Rwizi regional police publicist.

A police reshuffle has seen Gilbert Bwana Arinaitwe bounce back at the Crime Intelligance headquarters.

The bespectacled officer made international headlines in April 2011 when, during a police operation to block opposition figurehead Kizza Besigye from accessing the city centre in a procession, smashed the hind window of his Land Cruiser in which he had barricaded himself and immobilised him by pepper spraying in the eyes.

In the reshuffle, the Police's deputy Inspector General of Police, Okoth Ochola, has redeployed two of the Force's long serving spokespersons in the country after spending a year serving in the United Nations missions in South Sudan and Somalia respectively.

Among them, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vincent   Sekate, the former deputy Uganda Police Force spokesperson, returns as the Rwizi regional police publicist.

Ibin Ssenkumbi, the former Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson is the Greater Masaka police public relations officer, replacing Noah Sserunjojji.

In press statement sent to media houses this afternoon, the deputy police spokesperson, Polly Namaye said the transfers take immediate effect.

The duos are among 31 police officers that have been redeployed.
