Kinene, Sseguya take charge of Rugby Cranes

Pirates’ coach Kinene and Heathens’ Seguya will put aside their club rivalry and lay the winning strategy for the national team to be able to stay in the Rugby Africa 1A and also defend the Elgon Cup title

With the schedule for South Africa tactician John Duncan yet to be known, coaches Anthony Kinene and Robert Sseguya will take over the Rugby Cranes team that starts preparations next month for the Elgon Cup and the Rugby Africa 1A games later this year in June and July.

Pirates' coach Kinene and Heathens' Seguya will put aside their club rivalry and lay the winning strategy for the national team to be able to stay in the Rugby Africa 1A and also defend the Elgon Cup title.

"We are yet to know the schedule of Duncan because it is determined by Cheetah's club, but Kinene and Seguya will take charge for the time being," URU CEO Ramsey Olinga confirmed the development.

Duncan together with Kinene and Sseguya handled the team in the Elgon Cup against Kenya and Rugby Africa 1B last year emerging victorious in a tournament that had Mauritius, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Madagascar.

The two tacticians start work after the national team select panel summoned 38 players to commence training and will later be trimmed to the final squad of 25.

The players summoned include, Alex Mubiru, Andrew Olweny, Arthur Mpande, Asuman Mugerwa, Brian Odongo, Charles Uhuru, Chris Lubanga, Collins Kimbowa, Conrad Wanyama, Cyrus Watum, Davis Kyewalabye, Dennis Mullo, Elijah Segawa, Eric Kasiita and Gerald Sewankambo.

Others are Ivan Magomu, James Ijongat, James Odong, James Okello, John Wandicho, Joseph Aredo, Kevin Makmot, Lawrence Sebuliba, Martial Tchumkam, Marvin Odongo, Mathias Ochwo, Micheal Wokorach, Oscar Kalyango, Philip Wokorach ,Pius Ogena and Herman Ssewankambo.

Others are, Ramathan Govule, Robert Aziku, Romano Ogwal, Ronald Musajja, Scott Oluoch, David Baseka and Mathew Egeru.

The officials include, Head coach John Duncan assisted by Anthony Kinene and Robert Sseguya while Emmanuel Baine and Joseph Kalanzi are team manager and doctor respectively.
