Supreme Court set to hear constitutional appeals

Justice Esther Kisaakye-Kitimbo, sitting as a single justice of the court, set dates on which to hear the cases.

 

KAMPALA - The Supreme Court is set to hear seven constitutional appeals and eight applications, including that of Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi versus Jude Mbabaali, starting February 22 next month.

Justice Esther Kisaakye-Kitimbo, sitting as a single justice of the court, set dates on which to hear the cases.

There are six constitutional appeals that are against the Attorney General and one by the Attorney General against parliament's deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah (to be heard on February 24).

The other appeals include Charles Harry Twagira vs Attorney General (Feb 22), Eddie Kwizera vs Attorney General (Feb 23), Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI) vs Attorney General (Feb 25).

Other appeals for hearing are Joseph Oging vs Attorney General (Feb 29), Church Ambrose Bukenya vs Attorney General (March 1) and Muwanga Kivumbi vs Attorney General (March 2).

Meanwhile, the applications set for hearing are:

  • Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi vs Jude Mbabaali (Feb 23)
  • Anthony Okwanga and 53 others vs Attorney General (Feb 24)
  • Attorney General vs Kasozi Robinson & 3 others (Feb 25)
  • Yokasi Bwambale Bihande vs Fred Police Businge (March 2)
  • Damanico Properties vs Hajji Yusuf Bagalye and another (March 3)
  • G. K. Karuhanga vs Attorney General (March 3),
