Bundibugyo accident kills five, two injured

Five people have been confirmed dead and two others seriously injured after a vehicle they were travelling in overturned along the Fort Portal - Bundibugyo road.

The accident took place at Bugombwa village along Bundibugyo-Nyahuka road on Wednesday evening.

The accident involved a Fuso lorry registration number UAR 673J and a motorcycle, registration number UEK 287H.

Police identified the dead as, Zaramoni Karajo 26, Samuel Isike 35, Misika Nafon 30, all hailing from Kasese district.

The others are Abson Kiseribwe 45 a resident of Nduguta Sub County in Bundibugyo district and Samuel Byaruhanga the lorry driver.

These who sustained injuries were on a motorcycle, the rider who is unidentified and the passenger, Kevia Babisa, 25.

He noted that the driver failed to brake on a slope and rammed into an oncoming vehicle and later overturned and rolled into the valley.

The five occupants of the vehicle died on spot and their bodies were taken to Bundibugyo mortuary for postmortem while the two who were on the motorcycle were rushed to Buhinga hospital with leg fractures.
