The organizing committee for the presidential debate has announced that preparations are in high gear for the historic event which will take place on Friday evening.

Addressing the media, Justice James Ogoola, the chairman of the organizing committee, said nothing would stop them from conducting the presidential debate.

Responding to reports about NRM and FDC presidential candidates skipping the debate, Ogoola said, "We have not received any official communication from the two candidates indicating that they will not participate. We therefore expect all the 8 candidates to participate."

At the briefing, Ogoola also introduced BBC's Alan Kasujja and KTN's Nancy Kacungira as the moderators of the debate.

Quoting the biblical phrase of wherever two or three are gathered God is always there, Ogoola said the debate would go on even if some candidates choose not to turn up.
