A total of 150 supervisors have been deployed to monitor 9,000 candidates who started writing their Allied Health Examinations.

The exams being conducted in 80 accredited centers countrywide will run up to January 22.

Kato Kamoga of the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB), said candidates are to be examined in twenty four programs.

He said those who pass will graduate as; clinical officers, dental officers, public health officers, laboratory technicians, anesthetics and orthopedic officers, and physiotherapists.

UAHEB was established to examine and award qualifications to registered candidates in allied health programmes.

A total of 8015 candidates sat last year's exams bringing the total number to 10,419 candidates who have been assessed since its establishment in 2009.

Kato said these people are very important in offering the quality health services especially in all public health facilities. He cautioned candidates against any kind of exam malpractices.

"A network is in place to root out any kind of malpractice. Some malpractices are orchestrated by some invigilators, tutors, principals and candidates themselves. I request every participant to exhibit a high degree of professionalism. Those who will be caught in the act will be prosecuted," he added.

Kamoga noted that impersonation has been one of the most common examination malpractices.

"But we have created albums containing photos of all the registered candidates. Invigilators will be using those albums to verify those who have presented themselves to sit exams at various centers. It will help to make sure that only those registered sit exams," he said.

Invigilators have also been urged to stop intimidating candidates

The board's chairman, James Mugerwa asked supervisors to do their work professionally to create friendly environment for the candidates.
