URA started their quest for Mapinduzi Cup glory with a win over Zanzibar's Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi Football Club (JKU) 3-1 in Group A.

 

A double from Villa Oromchan and a goal from Oscar Agaba were enough to secure the ‘tax collectors' their win. Juma Matari scored a consolation for JKU.

 

URA coach Kefa Kisaala who was delighted with win and pointed out that his side is determined to win the tournament.

 

"To win a tournament you have to win all the games. Its good we won our first game with a good margin" Kisaala stated.

 

URA will now take on defending champions Simba in their next group game on Wednesday.

 

KCCA who were also invited to take part in the annual event turned pulled out citing a big number of their players who will be with the Uganda Cranes at the Africa Nations Championship as well as injuries.

 

The winner will walk away with prize money worth $10,000.

 

KCCA is the only Ugandan side ever to win the tournament with Herman Wasswa scoring the only goal against Tanzania giants Simba in the 2013 finals.
