RG Football Academy director Rayco Garcia believes the support he received in the organisation of the Uganda All Stars versus Barcelona Legends match was a sign of approval for his project that is aimed at changing the face of Ugandan football.

He is grateful to President Yoweri Museveni for the support he has given him and is indebted to all the fans that turned up for the historic match that ended 5-3 in favour of the All Stars.

The match officially launched the Rayco Garcia Football Academy that starts in January next year.

"I'm proud to have successfully hosted such a high-profile match. I want to thank those who believed in me, those who believed that the Barcelona Legends were indeed going to come and supported the match. I have spoken with all the Barcelona Legends that took part in the game, and they have asked me to thank the fans that came to the stadium to support them," Garcia stated.

"It wasn't easy assembling all the players that came as most of them have busy schedules, but overall it was worth it. I must say Uganda will never be the same again around the world; back in Spain, the game was covered by most of the Spanish newspapers and almost everyone knows about Uganda now after that match," Garcia remarked before thanking the President.

"I really want to thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for believing in me. He has promised to continue supporting the football academy I intend to start in January and other related projects,"

"The Uganda All Stars were very supportive and I know we'll achieve a lot more together. The coaches Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa are wonderful coaches to continue working with. They understand the game so well and are always willing to help."

The legends trip to Uganda and the match were sponsored by President Museveni, Uganda Tourism Board, Sheraton Hotel, Nile Breweries, Rwenzori Water, Vision Group, PayWay, KFC, KCCA,UAP Insurance and UNICEF.
