The UMEME team returned 113 points to win the third edition of the Rotary on the green charity golf tournament at Kitante, on Saturday.
Over Sh11m was raised by the golfers in the annual tournament aimed at raising funds towards the completion of the Rotary hospital in Ngandu, Mukono district.
Joseph Kasozi (39pts), Ibra Bagalana (38pts), Becca Mwanja (36pts) and Henry Rugamba (28pts) combined for Umeme to win the one-day corporate event.
The SPEDAG team comprising of Joseph Kakooza (39pts), Noah Waibi (38pts), Brian Omirambe (34pts) and Joseph Kato (28pts) were runners up having collected 111points while Hussein Bagalana (38pts), Gloria Mbaguta (35pts), Samalie Naikomba (20pts) and Michael Tumusiime (31pts) inspired the National Water and Sewarage Corporation team to a third place finish in the event that attracted 17 corporate companies.
The best individual golfers on the day were Gao Boyu (44pts), Edgar Muzahura (43pts) and Joseph Kakooza (39pts) while in the ladies category Gloria Mbaguta (35pts), Monica Ntege (33pts) and Sheila Kesiime (33pts) emerged top.
Rotarian Kasadde Mukasa who donated the 10 acres of land on which the hospital was built gave away the trophy to the winning team.
According to Rotary Club of Kampala President, Edward Kaddu Mukasa, out of the over sh600m needed to complete the construction of the hospital, only sh408m has been raised to-date, leaving a deficit of sh242m which is needed for furnishing, plumbing, electricals and paiting of the interiors.
He said they were looking for partners who can contribute both in cash and kind to raise the deficit.
