EC bans biased voter education 'topowa' campaign

The Electoral Commission (EC) had banned what it termed as a biased voter education ‘topowa' campaign.

In a letter dated November 26, 2015, addressed to CCEDU coordinator, EC secretary, Sam Rwakoojo said by airing such adverts, CCEDU contravened the memorandum of understanding.

“The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to call upon to immediately to stop airing the ‘topowa’ voter education campaign on television and radio programmes until further clarification to the Electoral Commission.”
