MUBS  4   UMU  0

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) have retained the University Football League title after a resounding 4-0 victory over Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi (UMU) on Saturday.

The defending champions enjoyed a routine win over UMU in the final played out at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Having come into that anticipated game as favorites, they proved what they are made of by convincingly brushing aside their opponents to be crowned champions – once again.

Alongside a trophy and gold medals, MUBS received a cash prize of sh2.5m for being champions.

UMU did not go back home empty-handed. As runners-up, they took silver and a cash prize of sh1.5m, while Ndejje University, the second runners-up, bagged sh1m. Ndejje beat Makerere University 2-0 in the third-place match.

Moments before kickoff, the UMU squad definitely did not know the kind of footballing massacre that lay ahead for them . . .

. . . yet that would be the some kind of brutal execution that would be handed over to them by this formiddable MUBS lineup

And the thriller got under way . . . with as much intensity and vim as you see here

Trying out the popular Mexican wave guys? Well, looks like . . .

true

And there's so much reason for that, seeing that the fans were reading off a script that featured a one-sided four-goal galore, that would send the men of the pitch (read MUBS) celebrating one . . . two . . . three . . . four  goals!

Of course UMU did not take the defeat lying down. They gave their more illustrious opponents a good run for their money. Just look at this UMU player dancing his way past two opponents. Skill!

Meanwhile in the stands, the supporters came in all sizes, shapes, colours. They also came armed with an arsenal of their own ways of celebrating/supporting. Creative!

No, this is not a Uganda Cranes match, incase you get mistaken by this picture. Yes, such was how big the university final was!

When was the last time you celebrated a goal, and more importantly, how did you celebrate it? Ask these two MUBS players and they will gladly show you this picture . . .

As UMU crumbled on the pitch in the face of a good whipping, this supporter also had his own share of a tumble in the face of crowd rivalry . . .OOPS!

true

Security was as tight as you can see . . . security gulugulu (as the locals would say)

They played solidly as a team, and they did celebrate the dividends as a team. Brilliant!

OK young man, first the medal, then you can have your handshake. Congs nevertheless!

READY . . . STEADY . . .

OLE, OLE OLE OLE, OLEEE, OLEEEE!  (x100)  . . .  now that's the sound of victory!

true

They may be forgiven for, perhaps, not knowing the entire winning squad name by name, but these female fans sure know how to make up for that . . . check how they celebrate triumph

The referee of the selfie? Now that's a new one! But hey, look at your selfie-mate at the extreme right . . . she is not looking into your camera. Better issue her a redcard!
