Kamuli district LC V chairperson, Salaam Musumba, has said her voters will decide where she will contest in 2016 elections.

Musumba, also the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) vice president for eastern region, stoked the fires recently when she picked forms to contest for Kamuli Woman MP seat, currently occupied by Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Parliament.

She also picked nomination forms for three other positions--Bugabula South, Kamuli Municipality and Kamuli LCV chairperson.

"I want to take power back to people. We are planning for the future of Kamuli; where do I sit? My bosses (voters) will advise me," she told New Vision.

Musumba dismissed allegations that she had stepped down for Kadaga. "I am not pulling out for anybody. I am ready to contest for any seat that is available. I am eligible for anything," she stressed.

A source close to Musumba had told New Vision that the FDC strong woman had been persuaded by some people in Kamuli not to stand against Kadaga.

"She had been approached by a number of people from Kamuli not to stand against her. She may be going for Kamuli Municipality," a source said.

Kadaga, who is has represented Kamuli as Woman MP since 1996, recently defeated Deborah Mwesigwa, a former employee of Uganda Revenue Authority in the National Resistance Movement  primary elections.

However, Mwesigwa, vowed to come as an independent in 2016 elections.
