11 killed after lorry rams into a bar

ELEVEN people died on the spot while eleven others were critically injured after a lorry rammed into a group of people at Minakulu trading centre A in Oyam district on Froday evening.

Denis Akoch an area resident who witnessed the accident said a white Tipper lorry with registration number UAX 504P rammed into the group that was drinking local brew after both its front tyres burst at about 6:20pm.

Wilfred Owito a police detective from Oyam Central Police Station confirmed the incident saying the lorry veered off the road after driver lost control after the tyres burst.

He said both the injured and the bodies of the dead were taken to Gulu Regional Hospital.

Owito added that the driver of the lorry was among those who died on the spot.
