THE Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Jessica Alupo has called upon parents to invest in high quality education to meet the changing educational global demands.

“There is no greater form of preparation for change than education. I also think that there is no better investment that the individual, parents, and the nation can make than an investment in education of the highest possible quality,” she said.

She noted that the best reward a parent can give to a student is to take them to schools with state of the art infrastructures, motivational teachers and those that harness their talents and reward their efforts.

Alupo was speaking during the inauguration ceremony for the new premises of Delhi Public School International where she was the chief guest.

She applauded business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia for establishing a world class educational institution that will mould and guide future generations of enlightened minds in a multi-national environment.

Alupo praised the Ruparelias for coming up with interactive digital classrooms and said that it is the only way a child can experience a world as lively as its imaginations while at the same time learning.

“Technology aided learning through tools like digital boards and curriculum-mapped multimedia content makes school a life enriching experience,” she said.

Delhi Public School is a state of the art international school with well-equipped classrooms, magnificent infrastructures and a conducive environment.

Owned by Ruparelia, the school is set to become the first digital international school in Uganda with a digitalized library, curriculum and syllabus.

Compared to the teaching methods employed in Ugandan schools, at Delhi Public School (DPS) audio-visual aids are the core methods of teaching.

With each of the 54 class rooms, equipped with audio-visual aids such as LCD displays, e-books, digital boards, practical video instructions, the students learning is made easier and entertaining.

“Our students do not have to wait for the teachers to guide them, they can study at their time of convenience, watch practical videos and put it into practice,” Rajiv Ruparelia, the schools director said.

He noted the e-learning method has enabled their students to turn into fast learners, adding that the method has also turned book reading into an exciting adventure because instead of reading the text, you watch the videos.

To make the learning more exciting, the state of the art school has three well equipped science laboratories, well equipped computer laboratories, an indoor games room, art room and fashion and design room.

According to Rajiv, the school has a capacity of accommodating over 1800 students though as of now there are only 750 students.

Mary Jacob, the school’s principal said they chose an Indian curriculum- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), because it is learner oriented and internationally recognized.

“The curriculum is widely recognized all over the world and students aspiring to go abroad for studies are accepted in all universities round the world,” she noted.

She added that their curriculum is designed and developed to deliver quality education where a student comes into their fold in nursery and leaves to enter university.

Delhi Public School International is a merger of Indian International School and Delhi Public School. It became operational in 2014.
