The twist is in the mash ups. Fans of Coke Studio, a non-competitive musical show now in its third season and run by Coca-Cola, must be excited about the mash-ups, a new trend in music of making a song by blending two or more pre-recorded songs.

Usually it is done by overlaying the track of one song seamlessly over the track of another to create a new piece featuring two musicians.

Over 54 mash ups were produced the past three months that these artistes were in studios.

The show will feature 27 of Africa's top artistes from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria and Mozambique. Uganda is represented by Jose Chameleone, Juliana Kanyomozi, Navio and Maurice Kirya. Others include Tanzanians Alikiba, Ben Pol, Vanessa Mdee and Fid Q Kenyans Sauti Sol, Avril, Wangechi, Elani, Juacali and Victoria Kimani and Nigerians Olamide, Ice Prince, 2 Face Idibia, Yemi Alade and Flavour. Mozambique's finest will include Neyma, G2, Dama Do Bling and Hernani Da Silva.

American pop and R&B superstar NE-YO will be the season finale's guest star.

The aim of the show is to showcase the diversity of African music talent and present opportunities for artistes to work with some of the best local and international music and production talent.

The featured artistes have been working themselves off with producers Zwai Bala, the grammy award nominee from South Africa, TV director Brett Lotriet and others.

You can watch the show exclusively on Urban TV (Friday at 7:00pm with repeats on Sunday 10:00pm and Monday 11:00am), Bukedde TV (Sundays 1:00pm) and TV West (Saturdays- 5:00pm).
