A Rwandan business woman Clementine Mureketete has been remanded to Luzira Prison after appearing in court on charges of smuggling.

The Anti- corruption grade I magistrate, Patricia Amoko on Thursday afternoon sent her to jail after the suspect was detained on charges of possessing unaccustomed goods.

Prosecutor, Lydia Katami  alleged that in August between Kampala and Padea,  Mureketete and another still at large interfered with a Suzuki Vitara estimated at sh20M which was a subject to customs control.

Katami, also, URA litigation manager, told court that the vehicle unit chasis No. JSAHTX92V00200353 was being driven to upcountry illegally.

But the suspicious URA team and security personnel checked until the driver could not provide credible papers from the customs, court heard.

Mureketete accepted the charges and court granted her bail.

But due to lack of substantial sureties, she was remanded until November 2, when she is expected to apply for bail.
