Police in Mbarara are holding Hussein Ssekyanzi who accusing him of raping a student of Bishop Stuart University.

 

The victim is among 1700 students expected to graduate at the university's 11th graduation this Saturday.

 

According to police, Hussein, 28, years invited the unsuspecting victim for an outing on Sunday evening and when they reached the point they had agreed to meet at, Hussein took her to a dark spot behind a stone quarry in Kakiika, Mbarara and raped her.

 

After the incident, it is alleged that Hussein ordered her to send to him mobile money off her phone worth sh1m, beat and left her unconscious.

 

The victim was discovered by a passerby who took her to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where she is being treated.

 

Speaking to New Vision, Hussein denied the allegations and said that the victim was his girlfriend until last year when she stole his money worth sh15m he had gotten from selling his car.

 

Tabhan Chiringa the Mbarara OCCID confirmed the incident and said police was carrying out thorough investigations into the matter.

 

He said the suspects would be taken to court and if found guilty would face the law.  He called upon girls to avoid dealing with strangers.
