Uganda Muslim Supreme Council on Tuesday held prayers ‘swalatul janaiza’ for the fallen UPDF Maj. Gen. Ali Bamuze. The prayers were led by Sheikh Yahaya Kakungulu at Gadaffi National Mosque.

Swalat janaiza is an Islamic funeral prayer.

Addressing the mourners, Hajj Anas Ssessimba, the head of events at the Supreme Council said people should stop speculation whenever a person dies.

Gen. Bamuze was on Saturday part of the UPDF officers who attended an Operation Wealth Creation meeting organized by the Commander of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Katumba Wamala at J&M Hotel in Bwebajja along Entebbe Road. The meeting was addressed by President Yoweri Museveni.

Bamuze collapsed shortly after the President had left and was immediately rushed to Nakasero Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

An autopsy is being carried out to establish the cause of death. He will be laid to rest on October 7, 2015 at his ancestral home in Aringa County, Yumbe District.
