HE last tested the podium about ten years ago, and just came from home to participate in another round of golf but Gilbert Atwooki left the Uganda Golf Club winner of the seniors open on Saturday.
Competing in the Silver category of the (60-69) years old, the handicap 9 golfer returned 35 stable ford points to beat a strong field of senior golfers at the club.
"We emerge mysteriously but we win. We gave you a boy (Ronald Otile) and he won, beating even the professionals; what to do you expect of me a custodian of the club where he comes from; I lead by example; but I must thank my partners who gave me a good game and as seniors we shall continue playing and winning," Atwooki said after receiving the winners' trophy from Haider Somani.
Playing as a senior for the first time Monica Ntege was also in good form returning 34 points to beat Jenina Nasimolo to the top prize.
