Aisha Nabukeera clinches ''Special Courageous Achievement'' award

Aisha Nabukeera has won the special courageous achievement award, two months after she failed to win the Miss Uganda beauty pageant.

Aisha Nabukeera has won the special courageous achievement award, two months after she failed to win the Miss Uganda beauty pageant.
She received the award during the Diva Awards’ pre-season launch party at Club Ambience. Diva awards are organized to appreciate women who ave stood up from the crowd.
In Uganda, it was the first event of Diva Awards in three years. The event saw a handful of revelers, perhaps because the main event is slated for March 2016.
The organization was superb, save for some glitches like late kick-off. The event started at 8pm, as opposed to the announced 7pm.
The day’s MC hit the stage at 8:30pm, introducing a music performance, and then organizer of the event, Kalule Kagwa spoke, giving a brief background of the event.

At 8:50pm, the awarding session commenced with Halima Namakula walking away with Humanitarian Achievement Award. This appreciates a diva who has involved in improving people’s livelihood. She amused revelers when she announced her dedication to improve the girl/woman life.
Then, in what was the most anticipated accolade of the night, Nabukeera was announced. Many people thought she would break down in tears, but not her.
“I am very happy to receive this award. I thank people, who have stood by me in the different times of my life. I thank my Uncle (Frank Gashumba),” she said.
Lastly, the Special Life time Achievement Award went to Joanita Kawalya. As usual, she never ceases on advising budding musicians. She cited a quote told to her by her late father; “It takes many years to build a name but just seconds to spoil it,” she mentioned, adding “my young musicians, if you love you career, stay focused.”
The event ended at 9:30pm.
