POLICE have preferred a charge of inciting violence and holding unlawful demonstrations against the Kilak County MP, Gilbert Olanya.
Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said that his files are being processed to be sent to the director of public prosecutions.
“We opened up cases of incitement of violence and also holding unlawful demonstration. The files are being processed and we expect them to go to the DPP soon” Enanga said in a telephone interview.
Olanya was arrested on Monday by police at Parabongo trading centre as he was heading to Pabbo Sub County to address the locals.
Police claim that the legislator had gone to incite the locals against the planned border demarcation exercise between Amuru and Adjumani districts.
Enanga however said Olanya is still being held at Masindi police station in Masindi district on SD reference number 18/07/09/2015.
He also noted that police investigations into the matter are still ongoing at Aswa River region headquarters in Gulu.
