Village health workers have asked government to consider a salary for them.
The call was made by the Makindye Ssaabagabo village health at function held at St.Joseph Catholic Church Parish Lweza in Wakiso district.

Babirye Mwesigwa, the chairperson for the health promoters in Makindye Ssaabagabo asked the ministry of health to pay them.

Village health workers sensitize the communities about immunization of children, antenatal services and nutrition among other programs.

This has led to improved health standards in the communities.

Rukia Nakamate, the ministry of health Public relations officer however, explained that village health promoters are a voluntary work.
