Makerere students on murder charges further remanded

Investigations into a murder case against three Makerere University students are complete. The trio is facing charges of murdering their colleague David Otim Ojok.

Investigations into a murder case against three Makerere University students are complete. The trio is facing charges of murdering their colleague David Otim Ojok.


State attorney Esther Nalungi on Monday informed court presided over by the Buganda Road grade I magistrate, Esther Nahirya, that investigations into the matter were nearly complete.

“I request court for more time to enable the police finalize with its investigations.” Nalungi said

This prompted the trial magistrate to adjourn the matter to September 22 for further mention.

 The suspects include: Nkrumah hall chairman designate Marvin Mutungi, Martin Atukwase and Derrick Wagooli.  

 The suspects were arrested on April 14 this year after for allegedly leading a mob against the deceased.  

 It is alleged that the trio and others still at run on April 12, 2015 at Nkrumah hall Makerere University murdered Ojok suspecting him to be a thief.

 Ojok who was a former graduate of Computer Science at the Institution, died at Mulago Hospital. He was buried at his ancestral home at Kolkil village in Pader district.

According to police records, Ojok had gone to Nkurumah hostel to demand his money amounting to sh500, 000 from one of a resident student who had dodged him for some time.
