Soana FC stretched their unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 4-0 win over Lweza FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground.

That was the first win in this campaign for Soana whose previous two games ended in a draw.

Having survived the drop last season, the Kavumba-based outfit was keen to sign experienced players to galvanize their squad to produce a more meaningful campaign.

The new additions include ex-KCCA FC striker Francis Olaki, who was the top scorer with 15 goals before leaving for professional football in the 2013/14 season.

Olaki swiftly showed why the club needed him when he opened his goal account with his new club with a rasping early opener.

Former The Saints FC player Kamada Ndiefi also did just that when he put the hosts further ahead against a crumbling Lweza side moments later via a freekick that beat the visitors’ keeper Sowedi Salim.

Asiku Crespo made it 3-0 before the break to all but end the contest.

Ten minutes before the final whistle, Olaki completed his brace from the spot after the hosts were awarded a penalty when John Muwanguzi was brought down in the box.

Not even a consolation goal came for a disjointed Lweza side as their opponents proved solid all the way.

The visitors will perhaps point to the absence of their newly signed striker Hassan Kikoyo who went for trials in Jordan – but in truth,  Soana deserve praise for their solidity, pace and accuracy in front of goal.

Lweza captain Kiyemba Ibrahim said it was “a bad day in office” and that his side would make right their mistakes.

“Too many injuries also affected us, on top of some new players who have not finished with the legal documentation,” he added after the match. Their next game will be against Express FC at Wankulukuku Stadium.
