Commonwealth 5000m and 10000m defending champion Moses Kipsiro has been cleared to enter the Games Village, despite failure to have his biometric data captured in Uganda.

Kipsiro had been included on Team Uganda to the Games, but all indications were that he will not get access to the Games Village, having failed to turn up for the biometrics exercise at the Visa Handling Service.

However, the Local Organising Committee for the Games clarified that the runner, who is currently in London building up for his title defence, will be allowed in the village.

Federation secretary Beatrice Ayikoru confirmed receipt of a message from the Local Organising Committee after a communication between them, Kipsiro’s Manager Ricky Simms of Pace Sports Management and the organisers.

“It was confirmed that he will gain access to the village as he is always in London which means he has been cleared to go to UK,” Ayikoru said.
