The Rwandan High Commission in Uganda has marked the 20th liberation anniversary (Kwibihoza) and hailed the excellent bilateral relations between Rwanda and Uganda.

Rwanda High Commissioner  Maj.Gen.  Frank Mugambage said that phenomenal progress has been made over the last 20 years and nothing should be allowed to interrupt that progress.

“Everything should be done to ensure sustainability and continuity,” said Mugambage.

Present were various diplomatic guests and state minister for agriculture, Bright Rwamirama, who represented Government.

Mugambage said that among the achievements to be celebrated is the excellent fraternal relationship between Rwanda and Uganda.

“This excellent relation has created an enabling environment for pursuit of long delayed critical joint ventures in our region which are already redressing the historical distortions that hampered progress in all spheres,” said Mugambage.

He said that the struggle led by President Paul Kagame got rid of bad governance that promoted hatred and destroyed the unity of the people.

“This bad political culture had to be changed and replaced with a new one of upholding unity and advancing nationhood,” said Mugambage.

He said that bad governance in Rwanda had caused the suffering of citizens while thousands of others were rendered stateless for several decades.

Rwamirama, was chief guest,  called upon the people of Rwanda to remain united as they continue with the development of their country.
