A production crew of about 30 members has just left the country following a wrap filming the second season of Comedy Club Live in Kampala, hosted by celebrity comedian Anne Kansiime.
The last two episodes featuring local comedians Tindi, Smart Ayokyayokya, Alex Muhangi and Kizito were filmed last Saturday July 12th, ending two weeks of intensive filming in the country by a crew comprising talent from different parts of Africa, including Uganda.
According to Tina Wamala, the Public Relations Manager of Multichoice Uganda, Comedy Club Live in Kampala, which first entertained DStv audiences across Africa in 2012, has returned to Uganda because of the country’s fast-growing comedy industry.
A popular M-Net Africa production, Comedy Club Live in Kampala will once again entertain the continent via Africa Magic Entertainment (DStv Channel 151), going on air in the first week of September.
Over the show’s stay-over in Kampala, it profiled a number of stand-up comedians in a bid to offer them a wider television platform to demonstrate their talent, and heighten their chances of being hired for events across Africa.
In all, over 40 acts were captured for the 26 episodes that Season Two will feature, each episode showcasing performances from two comedians, along with interviews by show host Kansiime, live band gigs by Magic Hornz and Qwela, plus a live audience in what wraps an hour’s per episode.
Also, a Nigerian and some four Kenyan comedians happen to grace the show, which promises an eclectic mix of highly talented stand-up comedians, both celebrated and little known.
Look out for names like Bright Ayokyayokya, Patrick Mujuuko, Alex Muhangi, Herbert Mendo, Daniel Omara, Patrick Idringi, Amanya, Cotilda Inapo, Conan, Columbus, Bob Nuwagira, Emmanuel Sebakaje, Prince Ehmah and Pablo Kimuli, amo ng others.
The move, according to M-Net Africa Managing Director Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, is aimed at increasing East African content on the DStv platform.
