FOR the first three quarters against the KIU Titans, the Ndejje Angels looked a lot like the surprise package of last year’s Airtel National Basketball League (ANBL).

Then, with the game on the line, they reverted to labouring Ndejje everyone has seen this season. The result, a 79-58 win for KIU.

Micheal Makiadi grabbed 20 points and 12 rebounds as KIU broke away in the fourth quarter to cruise to their third successive win. Samuel Agutu and David Donat added 13 points apiece for KIU, who have won seven overall in the first round of the regular season.

Ndejje trailed 52-46 going after three quarters but they collapsed in familiar fashion to sink to their seventh loss in 10 games. Geoffrey Soro and Michael Otieno led Ndejje with 22 and 13 points respectively.

Meanwhile, City Oil’s big-two of Kami Kabange and Jimmy Enabu scored a game-high 23 and 10 points respectively to rally their team to a 64-48 win over the hard-fighting Vegetarians.

The fast improving Paul Otto scored 17 points for the Vegetarians, who surprisingly led City Oil 33-23 at halftime. Vinnie Jurua added 12 points for Simon Otine’s Veg.

But the reigning champions predictably bounced back to win the third period 29-10 and take control of proceedings.
