The Rotary Club of Kololo has installed the first woman president since the club was established 26 years ago.
Munira Ali, the spokesperson of the Inspectorate of Government, was installed at a colourful ceremony attended by Inspector General of Government Irene Mulyagonja, state minister of environment Flavia Munaba and Munira's father, Bablo Ali.

The new president received instruments of power from her predecessor Paul Bogere.
The instruments which were given to Munira by outgoing president Stephen Mwanje included chains, a bell, certificate and article of the memorandum of association and others.
Upon being installed, Munira promised to serve the less fortunate in society unreservedly and called upon fellow rotarians to identify opportunities to serve the communities.
“There are many problems in the world. I would like you to identify opportunities where we can serve and make a difference in people’s lives,” Munira told guests.

She informed guests that her name Munira means light and therefore, she would bring light to shine in the Club.
She said her first priority was to ensure cervical cancer screening exercise is conducted in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb and visit the orphanage in Kaliro.
The ombudsman, Mulyagonja, congratulated her spokesperson for attaining top echelon of power which has been dominated by men.
Mulyagonja lauded the Club for championing girl child education and improving the lives of the unprivileged in society.
State minister of environment Munaba urged the Club to encourage communities to plant trees to preserve environment.
