Uganda commends South Korea for investing here

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has applauded South Korea for its continued support and investment into Uganda saying it had cemented the relationship between the two countries.

Vice President Edward Ssekandi has applauded South Korea for its continued support and investment to Uganda saying it had cemented the relationship between the two countries.

Receiving a delegation from South Korea led by deputy foreign minister for political affairs Lee Kyung-soo at the President’s office on Thursday in Kampala, Ssekandi said there were alot of tangible things that the South Korean government had established in Uganda for economic development.

“These, among other investments, are giving jobs to our people here, and we want to thank for this great friendship,” said Ssekandi.

He pointed out Koica leadership School Kampiringisa in Mpigi district which South Korea has heavily invested in.

Ssekandi however, advised South Korea to consider investing in the country’s virgin oil resource saying the country was in advanced stages of setting up a refinery which he said South Korea could consider investing in.

In his remarks, the visiting South Korea’s deputy foreign affairs minister for political affairs, Lee Kyung-Soo, said South Korea had established in Uganda many projects in areas of agriculture, information communication technology, (ICT) and energy to foster development.

“I am in Uganda today to reconfirm our commitment to strengthen our bi-lateral relations with Uganda. Uganda has many potential areas for investment which we share in common,” said Lee Kyung-soo.

Lee, who was in company of other members from South Korea, was also accompanied by South Korea’s ambassador to Uganda Park Dae.
