FMU suspends Umar Daudi, Kakande driving licenses

The national motorsport governing body (FMU) FMU has suspended the drivers’ licenses of the crew of Umar Daudi and Hamza Kakande that were involved in an accident claiming the lives of two children and injuring five others.

The national motorsport governing body (FMU) FMU has suspended the drivers’ licenses of the crew of Umar Daudi and Hamza Kakande that were involved in an accident claiming the lives of two children and injuring five others.
FMU president Jack Wavamuno disclosed this in a press briefing held at National Council of Sports headquarters in Lugogo on Monday July 7, 2014.
“We are all very aware that it was a rally but there are traffic rules and regulations to be followed. We have suspended their driving licenses till investigations in the matter are finished by the police, Insurance and out team,” Wavamuno stated.
He further explained that suspending Daudi is condemning him and his co-driver of the accident, but also giving them time to recover from that trauma attained after such an accident.
“I’m told he was crying of killing children which is a true reflection of trauma, and as a federation it’s our concern to protect any further incident of such nature that would happen again,” Wavamuno stressed.
He added that the federation is going to act tough on the clubs organising events, by setting up more strict terms and conditions to be fulfilled before an event is organised.
“We are all parents and I don’t think anybody would love to wake up and get news that his or her child has died in such situations. I will not allow that as long as am president,” he added.
