Second round

Uganda v Rwanda (July 18)

FUFA will have to spend about sh10m to get more players for the national U-17 football team that is due to play Rwanda’s Junior Wasps in Kampala this month.

Coach Matia Lule confirmed that he has called up seven more players to beef up the side ahead of their second round qualifier because he expects a stiffer challenge.

The names of the new players will be revealed at the FUFA press conference in Mengo on Wednesday morning.

Lule joined the Airtel Rising Stars finals in Fort Portal after the Cubs ejected Seychelles 5-1 on aggregate.

After advancing to the second round FUFA president Moses Magogo gave each of the players $100 (about sh250000) as an appreciation and transport fee to return to their respective homes for a week before they resume training on Monday.

Magogo has promised to ensure that the Cubs go as far as they can in the bid for the 2015 African U-17 Championship slot.

Uganda hosts Rwanda on July 18 before the return leg in Kigali on August 2.

Lule said he needed the new players to add to the current squad because he expected a stiffer challenge from Rwanda compared to their first round opponents Seychelles.

Lule released the players soon after the match last Saturday and will resume residential training next Monday.
