The envelop contained sh13,000 during a church service that was conducted by Pastor Samuel Kakande.

Ngasirweki, a pickup driver pleaded guilty to the offence and requested the magistrate to give him a fair sentence since he was on medication.

Asked why he stole the offertory yet he had initially told court that he had gone to church to be blessed, Ngasirweki told court that it was satan who tempted him to steal.

The magistrate Jolly Nkore Shwandah convicted the accused to two weeks community service at Synagogue Church as well as pay back the money.

State prosecutor, Lydia Mbabazi told court that this is the second time Ngasirweki is convicted of stealing offertory at the same church where is a member.

“In April this year, he committed the same offence but there was no evidence to pin him. So he should be given a formidable sentence so that he can reform,” said Mbabazi.

Court heard that on May 25, 2014, Ngasirweki stole shs13,000 offertory from the collection basket while attending prayers at Synagogue Church of all Nations.

John Kakooza, one of the ushers in the church alerted security which arrested Ngasirweki and charged him with stealing offertory before arraigning him before court.
